1. Our executive committee has had six meetings this year to date, including two meetings with the
Board of Directors attending. Four meetings were held over the Zoom platform online due to
Covid-19.
2. Our Chapter has officially changed our name to the “Ontario Chapter of AHS.” Our website domain
name, email address and related information has all been updated. We also have recently
received our new charter from our parent organization, the American Harp Society. Thank you
everyone who has supported the motion and we sincerely hope that the name change will
encourage more participation from harpists and friends of the harp from all over Ontario in the
future.
3. We had one major event this year. The Harp Therapy Workshop was led by Certified Therapeutic
Harp Practitioner Martha Lawrance on November 10, 2019 at 4 pm at Tyndale University College
and Seminary. It was an illuminating workshop and attracted many to attend, both harpists and
non-harpists alike.
4. We had planned for two other major events: Sarah Davidson’s Masterclass on April 19th and Angela
Schwarzkorf’s Music Audition Program which was scheduled in May. Unfortunatly, due to
Covid-19, both events were postponed. The Music Audition Program is scheduled to be held on
January 17th and February 7th 2021. The Master class will now be held in the fall of 2021. More
details will follow.
5. One of our past presidents, Ms. Susana Remenyi, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2020. A
Celebration of Life in her honor is anticipated in the spring of 2021. More details will follow.
Ms. Judy Loman has kindly donated $100 for a scholarship in honor of Susana.
6. Last but not least, our dedicated treasurer and website organizer, Ms. Jane Millar, will be retiring from
her voluntary roles in our chapter. We thank her tremendously for her years of service and
dedication and we wish her the very best. Our social media manager Sharlene Wallace has kindly
agreed to take over the role of website organizer in addition to her current role.
Finally, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to our executive officers: Julie, George and Jane for
their countless hours, input and effort at our meetings; as well as to our Board of Directors, which also
included Judy, Janice and Sharlene. They have given valuable insight and time in our Board meetings over
the last two years. Without your help and support, our events would not be able to run so smoothly.
Thank you also to all of you for entrusting me with this role. It has been an incredible learning
experience serving you all. I hereby wish the new president and executive committee all the very best in
the upcoming year.
Sincerely yours,
Teresa Suen-Campbell
